Where are the adults?
As many as ten people ranging in age from 15 to 21 as reported so far (http://www.cnn.com/2009/CRIME/10/28/california.rape.investigation/index.html) participated in a gang rape of a 15 year old girl outside the homecoming dance at school. Astounding yes, but as many as ten more watched as it happened!
What I have to wonder is how can this happen? Who lets their 15 year old hang out with 21 year olds? Were these people all students at the dance? Why is a 21 year old at a high school dance? Was he a chaperone?
All these people are old enough to know rape is wrong. Why would they commit such a crime? I hope this isn’t another one of those stories where friends and family come out and say the criminals had bad upbringings and can’t help it. Someone guilty of this should not have another chance. We are not talking about a kid shoplifting a pack of chewing gum because he didn’t know just how wrong it was yet. Do you agree?

Papa John and the Titans Coupon
Papa Johns Pizza tries to help Titan Fans
Papa Johns was hoping to help Titan fans by giving a free toping for each touchdown the Titans scored. Yet, they lost big on October 18. Now, some people are complaining around towns and on the internet that they did not get what was promised. These fans feel they deserve free toppings. How are these fans insulted? Papa Johns did nothing wrong. SomebodyShouldAsk these fans why they feel so entitled to free stuff. Papa Johns did a marketing plan and wanted to help the Titans. They didn’t rig the game to avoid giving away some pepperoni. Come on fans and support your team without free food.

Palm Beach County, Florida - School Superintendent Art Johnson
Art Johnson, Palm Beach County School Board Superintendent, Florida
October 2009: Art Johnson and another school system employee, Jeffrey Hernandez, are embroiled in much debate surrounding curriculum. Ongoing articles throughout this month indicate Johnson and Hernandez favor forcing a countywide curriculum, including teachers teach specific items on specific days regardless of the students’ needs, and are getting harsh reactions from parents, students, and teachers. The plan even calls for a team to visit classrooms and ensure compliance.
2009: SunSentinel.com reports recent salary to be $300,000 per year without bonuses. Isn’t that a 50% increase in just a couple years? Who deserves that?
2006: Reported in the SunSentinel, Johnson’s yearly salary - $195,000. Wow, no wonder he wanted this job when starting teachers earned only $33,000.
2001: Johnson became superintendent of Palm Beach County Schools, Florida. It is great that someone is not punished for life for their mistakes but this seems a stretch. How can he run the 14th largest school district in the United States when he had trouble running his high school?
2001 began as Member of the Criminal Justice Committee (CJC): According to the committee’s website, one core value is to seek bold an innovative approaches to produce remarkable results. I wonder what bold criminal justice approach he was thinking about when the slacker’s box was being used in the school where he was principal before being forced to resign in 1998.
1997: Art Johnson forced to resign as principal of Spanish River High School, Boca Raton, Florida after approximately 30 years as an educator. The main issue for his resignation was surround a 3 x 4 foot space known as the slacker’s box that certain students were forced into as some sort of humiliation tactic in one of the classrooms within his school.

Florida, Power, and Light (FP&L)
Florida, Power, and Light (FPL) is still begging for more money. Check out this recap of oddities:
October 16, 2009(1): Approval to bill customers for $62.7 million to pay for nuclear plants that they do not even have the approval to build. You have to wonder if some of this is to cover the Oct 8 blackout fine.
October 11, 2009(1): FP&L wants to raise rates $1.3 billion per year.
October 8, 2009(1): FP&L required to pay $25 million fine for blackouts.
September 30, 2009(1): Questions surround FP&L pay to executives.
September 28, 2009(1): FP&L president sold $3.9 million in stock. Did the president know about the impending fine that FP&L would be paying?
September 23, 2009(1): AARP wants the Florida Public Service Commission to stop FP&L’s rate increases.
June 30, 2009(2): Quarter ending results: 11.33% profit margin, $16.91 billion revenue, $5.47 billion gross profit – What private company wouldn’t want this? Still they beg for money from overstretched consumers in a bad economy.
April 28, 2009(3): 90 cent EPS beats the Wall Street expectations of 77 cents. Wow! That is about 17% more than expected.
